I feel incredibly honored to have received the "Chamber Music Society of 1868"´s Breuning-Bache Quartet Memorial Scholarship. I received it at a concert in Copenhagen right before performing Olivier Messiaens "Quartet for the end of time" together with Ensemble Nordlys. A row of wonderful danish artists have received this honor throughout the years, including the legendary danish/icelandic cellist Erling Blöndal Bengtsson and the great pianist Elisabeth Westenholtz. Thank you!
Just finished the recording of Ravel´s Sonata for violin and cello. This piece is unbelievably beautiful and technically incredibly demanding. Many thanks to my partners-in-crime, violinist of the Danish National Symphony, Christian Ellegaard and the excellent sound-engineer Jesper Jørgensen! The recording will be released on Ensemble Mutatis debut CD in the summer of 2017. It will also contain pieces by Prokofiev and Francaix.
Not much time to relax this summer. After numerous performances in Los Angeles and Encinitas, I was heading straight to Denmark to perform a variety of chamber music at different festivals. I had the great pleasure to perform some of the best chamber pieces ever written: Brahms B Major Trio, Dvorak Dumky Trio, Schubert Cello Quintet, Brahms Sextet and a lot of other great music. Also the french repertoire was represented: Francaix Octet and Ravel Sonata for violin and cello. Both these pieces will be on Ensemble Mutatis debut CD, which will be released in spring 2017. As a grand finale to the busy summer, I went to one of my favorite places in the world, Prussia Cove in Cornwall, to play with wonderful musicians at the "Open Chamber Music"-sessions.
I am looking forward to join the Ipalpiti Festival in California. I will perform solo and chamber music in Encinitas and Los Angeles in venues such as Disney Hall, LACMA, Greystone Mansion and Wallis Annenberg Center. Come by if you are around!!
It is a great joy to share, that I am one of three classical musicians to receive the Danish Arts Council´s career grant "Den Unge Elite 2016". Over the next two years I will be be able to invest in my career as a cellist with funding from the Danish Arts Council. Thank you!
The Sheridan Piano Trio. In collaboration with american violinist Elizabeth Fayette and german pianist Moritz Winkelmann, we explore the great music written for this constellation by Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms... the list seems endless.
Ensemble Mutatis. This ensemble consists of a wind quintet and a string quintet. We are able to "mutate" in to a vast number of constellations, hence the name.
In september, I went back to IMS Prussia Cove´s yearly "Open Chamber Music" in Cornwall. It was such a pleasure to play great music with fantastic colleagues. If you are a chamber music lover and/or a musician, check out the website.
In the midst of this very busy spring, I had the privilege to share my love for music with the next generation during last weeks intense chamber music course at the precollege-division at Malmö Latinskola in Malmö, Sweden. I certainly learn a lot from teaching these gifted young musicians. It was a great pleasure to see all of them develop their chamber music skills throughout the week and hear their concert at the Malmö Live Concert Hall. Bravo!
